Kohima: Nagaland landed more than 30 crore in corporate funding this week. The Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland hosted a conclave in New Delhi to pitch the state to private businesses. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio urged leaders to rethink their spending strategies.
The event brought together over 40 companies at the India Habitat Centre. They signed 15 formal letters of interest to cement their support. Rio told the crowd, "Nagaland today is not merely a destination for assistance, it is a destination for opportunity."
The state wants to move away from being seen as a simple aid recipient. It needs partners. Officials pointed to the state's young workforce and its role in the Act East Policy as key selling points. The government set up a single-window system to handle all paperwork and project oversight.
Priority areas include education, sports, and rural livelihoods. IDAN Chairman Abu Metha noted that frontier regions often get ignored by big donors. He argued that national growth depends on investing in these areas. The state plans to use this capital to push digital access and climate resilience programs forward.
