Kohima: Nagaland marked Teachers Day 2026 with widespread events organized by schools, student bodies, and the Assam Rifles. The Japukong Students Conference honored 20 educators from local private and government schools with the Best Teacher Award. The group presented these winners with certificates during localized school ceremonies to celebrate their dedication. JKM officials noted the importance of this work, stating, "Their efforts in nurturing, guiding and encouraging students leave a lasting impact on individuals and society as a whole." They also provided gifts to non-teaching staff across the range.
Sao Chang College in Tuensang hosted a theme-based event titled Honouring the Guides. Principal Dr. Lanurenla and vice principal Dr. Lal Veda Chandra Kumar praised the faculty for their hard work. Assistant professor Akyuba Sangtam challenged the student body to maintain discipline and sincerity. At Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School, pupils held cultural shows and speeches to honor their mentors.
Assam Rifles expanded the celebrations into remote districts with motivational lectures and academic awards. Schools including GHSS Pungro, ARHS Naginimora, and St. Xavier School in Shamator held festivities involving sports equipment donations and stationery distribution. At St. Xavier, the military unit opened a new sanitation block. Participation numbers hit 320 students and 28 teachers at GHSS Pungro, while 85 students and 19 teachers joined local parents and council members in Anatongre.
