Nagaland Minister Calls for Tenyimi Unity and Balanced Leadership

Kohima: Nagaland Power Minister KG Kenye pushed for unity and a peaceful social climate during the first annual session of the Tenyimi Union Nagaland. The June 23 gathering in Meriema brought together five tribes: Angami, Chakhesang, Pochury, Rengma, and Zeliang. Kenye noted the group bonds through ancestry rather than borders.

He warned the community to watch their words. Politicians and leaders must remain logical. "Our group of Tenyimi is not born out of geographical or territorial blocks. Ours is of ethnicity. Ours is of ancestry. Ours is of a shared common history, a shared common forefathers," Kenye said. He added that the lack of central control in modern Naga society feels frightening.

The Minister for Women Resource Development, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, also addressed the crowd. She wants members to bridge tribal gaps. Kruse urged the group to pick dialogue over discord. She believes the community must build friendships that reach beyond their own boundaries to help all of Nagaland.

Other leaders joined the call for progress. Z Nyusietho Nyuthe asked the community to uphold ancestral values. Tenyimi Union President Kekhwengulo Lea urged members to put past differences aside. He pointed out that their shared culture keeps them strong despite living across different parts of Northeast India. The session centered on the theme of a progressive society through unity.
