Kohima: Nagaland commemorated World Environment Day on June 5, 2026, with a series of community-led programs, tree planting drives, and educational seminars held across the state. Under the theme Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future, various organizations and political groups united to promote ecological awareness and climate action.

The event highlighted the ongoing Khet Bachao Abhiyan campaign, which encourages eco-friendly farming practices through June 30. Elsewhere, the Naga People’s Front in Phek planted 600 saplings near Sezü Bridge, where former MLA Nuzota Swuro warned of the risks posed by forest fires and climate change.
