Nagaland Mandates Registration for Indian System of Medicine Practitioners

Kohima: The Interim Nagaland Indian Medical Council has issued a directive requiring all practitioners of the Indian System of Medicine to register with the council. This move aligns with standards set by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine in New Delhi. The mandate applies to individuals holding BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, and BSRMS degrees, including those already registered in other states.

Practitioners have until December 15, 2026, to complete the registration process. The council warned that those who fail to comply by the deadline will be considered in violation of the NCISM Act. The council stated that practitioners who miss this window will be "liable for legal, disciplinary and penal action as permissible under law."

The requirement also extends to visiting professionals. Medical experts from outside the state must secure transit registration or temporary permission from the council before engaging in clinical practice, consultations, medical camps, or academic workshops. The Interim NIMC remains open to process registrations for new graduates and handle ongoing regulatory matters. Practitioners can reach out to the council via official email for additional guidance.
