Kohima: Nagaland has successfully finalized every project sanctioned under the RUSA 2.0 scheme. Minister for Higher Education and Tourism Temjen Imna Along announced the milestone during a classroom inauguration at Fazl Ali College, noting that the state is among the first in the country to wrap up these initiatives without significant delays.
Building on this momentum, the state has secured federal approval for four new model colleges in Tseminyu, Niuland, Noklak, and Shamator. Officials also received in-principle approval for two additional institutions in Tuli and Chümoukedima. According to the minister, this success marks a regional record, as no other state in the Northeast has received as many college sanctions under the current program.
The department is working to manage these developments through the PM-USHA scheme, which provides support for infrastructure and quality-improvement initiatives. While addressing the staff and students, the minister stated that the department could now “proudly showcase” its accomplishments. He credited the success to a coordinated effort between government colleges, principals, and contractors.
Minister Along extended his appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio for their continued support. He emphasized that the state’s ability to secure these projects despite standard eligibility limitations underscores the effectiveness of these national education initiatives in fostering local development.
