Nagaland Leader Honors Folk Artist Guru Sangyusang Pongener

Kohima: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio officially congratulated Guru Sangyusang Pongener today. Pongener earned the Padma Shri award for 2026 for his deep work in the arts. He spent sixty years protecting Naga folk traditions from fading away.

The Chief Minister posted his support on social media. Rio lauded the artist for keeping local culture alive for the next generation. He recognized the effort as a major service to the state. The honor ranks among the highest civilian awards in India.
