Kohima: The Administrative Training Institute in Kohima hosted a two-day program on May 21 and 22 to educate government school teachers on child mental health. The workshop provided 36 educators from 16 local schools with the tools to identify, understand, and manage the psychological needs of their students.

Sessions focused on topics such as common childhood disorders, Psychological First Aid, and effective counseling techniques. Experts from the District Mental Health Programme and the Child Helpline 1098 led the training, offering practical strategies to support vulnerable students and improve the emotional well-being of the school community.

V. Shashank Shekhar, the Director General of the institute, highlighted the rising mental health concerns among students. He encouraged teachers to balance modern educational methods with cultural and moral values to create a more supportive environment for children.
