Kohima: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav demanded a total rethink of the regional education system on Monday. He spoke at the Byatikram Education Conclave 9.0 in Dimapur. The Governor wants schools to move beyond old textbooks and build a future-ready workforce.

India eyes a developed status by 2047. Yadav believes students need more than just grades to survive that era. He cited the National Education Policy 2020 as a primary guide for teaching critical thinking and innovation. The Governor stressed that schools must adapt to the rise of artificial intelligence and shifting job markets.

Yadav pushed for a shift in student goals. "Education should empower students not only to seek jobs but also to create opportunities and contribute meaningfully to society," he said. He added that the Northeast holds the natural resources and cultural depth to turn into a massive hub for research and economic growth.

Other speakers joined the call for change. ICFAI University Vice-Chancellor Amit Kumar Aditya warned that institutions must prepare students for careers that do not exist yet. Meanwhile, Swami Chinmayanandaji Maharaj of PVHSS argued that schools must focus on moral and spiritual growth rather than just chasing wealth. About 10 local schools took part in the event to discuss these goals.
