Kohima: MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso pushed for technical experts to steer Nagaland’s future at the Federation of Nagaland State Engineering Service Associations Biennial General Conference. The event took place Tuesday at the Capital Convention Centre in Kohima. Attendees gathered under the theme of Engineering Excellence for a Sustainable and Technological Development. Rhutso challenged the crowd to get involved in local administration. He argued that technical expertise improves the way the state plans and builds projects.
The legislator honored the legacy of Sir M Visvesvaraya during his keynote. He compared the medical field to engineering. Both exist to serve the comfort and well-being of humanity, he noted. "No society can progress towards sustainable development without the involvement of engineers," Rhutso said. He insisted that senior professionals must guide the youth to build a lasting impact on society.
FONSESA President Er Fineson Pojar called for broader leadership that looks past individual constituencies. He labeled engineers as the real wealth of the nation. He pushed for unity among the membership to ensure government functions effectively. "United we stand and divided we fall," he warned the assembly.
The conference also featured a deep dive into the Nagaland Solar Mission. Experts from APEN showcased the PM-SURYA GHAR: MUFT BIJLI YOJANA for home electricity. Subsidy rates reach Rs 53,000 for 1 kW, Rs 1.06 lakh for 2 kW, and Rs 1.35 lakh for 3 kW and above. Interested residents can sign up at www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in using a mobile number, email, and Consumer ID. The department works with 21 local vendors to finish installations. This program remains active until March 31, 2027.
Er Chirhotho Rasutho chaired the event. The agenda included an invocation by Er N Myingthungo Ngullie, a song by Onensangla Lkr, and a final vote of thanks from Er Seyievizo Tsükrü. The day concluded with a business session and the selection of new office bearers.

The conference took place on September 15. During his address, Pojar noted that Sir M. Visvesvaraya was born on September 15, 1861, and received the Bharat Ratna in 1955. Pojar also credited FONSESA’s founders for creating a platform that gathers engineers from diverse disciplines to sharpen their skills for public service.
The business session included a review of resolutions from the previous conference. A search committee handled the process for selecting the new office bearers.
