Nagaland Election Officials Launch Home Visits for Voter Roll Updates

Kohima: Nagaland election officials are hitting the streets. Booth Level Officers will now visit homes to collect documents from voters flagged with unmapped data or logical errors during the Special Intensive Revision. This push aims to clear up discrepancies without forcing citizens to trek to government offices. Election workers will upload the collected paperwork directly to the ECINET system for registration officers to review.

You do not need to show up in person. Most hearings are off the table. As officials noted, "need not visit the office of the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO)/Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) for a hearing." If a hearing is absolutely necessary, it will happen online. An adult family member can stand in for the elector if needed.

District offices are setting up help desks to support homeless residents, laborers, and anyone else needing a hand. You can find contact numbers on the CEO Nagaland website. The state also plans special camps to reach first-time voters and those missed during previous rounds.

Nagaland released a draft roll on September 20 showing 12,06,457 total electors. This includes 11,99,456 general and 7,001 service voters. Officials moved 1,57,752 people into categories for absent, shifted, dead, or duplicate entries from an original pool of 13,57,208. Nearly five lakh people may get notices regarding mapping issues linked to the 2005 rolls.

CEO Bhagyashree Banayat confirmed that citizens have until October 20 to file claims. “Genuine electors can still be added back to the electoral rolls during the claims and objections period (20.09.2026 to 20.10.2026) using Form-6 along with the prescribed Declaration Form,” she stated. The state will publish the final voter roll on November 22, 2026.
