Nagaland Launches Final Push to Register Missing Voters

Kohima: Nagaland’s Chief Electoral Officer is running a statewide special drive to fix the electoral roll. Officials want to make sure that “no eligible voter is left out” before the process wraps up. This push follows the September 20 release of the draft electoral roll. The window for claims and objections closes on October 20.

Statewide logistics for this project are massive. Authorities deployed 17 District Election Officers, 44 Electoral Registration Officers, and 64 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers. They also put 63 Additional Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, 259 Booth Level Officer Supervisors, and 2,399 Booth Level Officers into the field. The Election Commission of India is overseeing the work.

Recent data flags 1,57,752 electors as Absent, Shifted, Dead, or Duplicate. Officials previously warned that nearly 500,000 voters might receive notices regarding data gaps dating back to the 2005 electoral roll. A missing link to the 2005 records does not guarantee removal. Voters can still verify their status or reapply.

Residents should check the draft roll immediately. Use Form 7 to challenge entries or request deletions. Use Form 8 to update residence, fix errors, replace photo identity cards, or flag disability status. While this special period ends soon, voters can submit Form 6 for new enrollment year-round. Get help by calling 1950 or visiting local election offices. The final roll arrives on November 22, 2026.
