Kohima: Nagaland districts are ramping up government oversight. Officials from Chümoukedima, Longleng, Wokha, Dimapur, and Phek met to synchronize development targets and Census 2027 operations. Authorities are pushing for better data accuracy and service delivery.
In Longleng, the District Planning and Development Board approved the construction of an astro turf, the creation of a Sub-Divisional Horticulture Office at Tamlu, and the LADP 2026-27 scheme. Chairman B. Bangtick Phom issued a stern directive to all heads of departments: "All Heads of Departments to remain stationed at their respective headquarters to ensure efficient public service delivery."
Census 2027 remains a primary focus. Officials are preparing for the House Listing Operation, which involves numbering every structure using a mobile application with 34 questions. Digital self-enumeration windows have already opened in districts like Phek and Longleng. Dimapur Charge Officer Wiridin warned of misinformation, reminding stakeholders that Census information is strictly confidential. Every individual must be enumerated at their usual place of residence to ensure equitable resource distribution.
DISHA committees in Kohima and Chümoukedima are drilling down into departmental bottlenecks. MP S. Supongmeren Jamir urged officials to focus on measurable outcomes. In Kohima, discussions covered millet cultivation income, which hit an estimated 13 to 14 lakh rupees during a recent festival, and the sanctioning of 1,115 PM SVANidhi loan applications. Meanwhile, Wokha is tackling landslide risks in the Doyang area and a shortage of state transport bus services. Water security and sanitation remain top priorities for the District Water and Sanitation Mission in Longleng.
