Imphal: The All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur, slammed an apology from the Kuki-Zo Council regarding the murder of six Naga hostages. They see the statement as an insult rather than an act of remorse. It ignores the gravity of the crime. The group claimed the apology reeks of arrogance and failed to acknowledge the brutal actions of the KNF-P and Lailon Vaiphei Kuki villagers.

ANSAM specifically rejected the use of the term Katcha Nagas. They called the phrase historically offensive and an attack on Naga dignity. "The statement in question neither constitutes a genuine apology nor an admission of the unlawful and inhumane crimes allegedly committed by the KNF(P) and Lailon Vaiphei Kuki villagers," the association stated. They insist that reconciliation is impossible without legal consequences for the culprits.

The killings took place in Lailon Vaiphei Kuki village, an area the association identifies as ancestral Naga territory. They now demand the Manipur and central governments step in. ANSAM wants the killers identified, arrested, and sentenced immediately. They also dismissed claims linking Nagas to the separate death of three Thadou church leaders, labeling such accusations as baseless attempts to spark communal conflict.

The association warned that symbolic gestures cannot replace real justice. They remain focused on accountability for the abduction and torture of the six victims. ANSAM plans to keep pushing the government to fulfill its constitutional duty to protect all citizens.
