Kohima: The Inner Line Regulation Commission of the Naga Students’ Federation finished its rounds of stakeholder talks. They want to set up the Inner Line Regulation across Nagaland. The group sent out notices and invitations to non-Naga organizations to join the debate.
The commission held a full day of meetings on June 13. Leaders from the Marwari Samaj, the Muslim Council, and the Bengali Samaj sat down to talk. The federation claims they made every fair effort to bring everyone to the table.
Some groups stayed away. The commission now refuses to hear complaints from organizations that ignored their letters. The federation warned these groups that they are on their own. "Choosing to remain absent from such consultations is a conscious decision for which the concerned organisation alone must bear responsibility," the federation said.
The commission will move forward now. They plan to build their recommendations based only on the input they gathered from the groups that showed up. They insist that the absence of some parties does not weaken the final outcome. Any group that skipped the process should not ask for a redo later.
