Imphal: Nangba Konyak, a pastor from Nagaland, finished a grueling two-day journey to reach Makhan village in Manipur. He came to pray with families devastated by the murder of six Liangmai men. These men died after Kuki armed groups abducted them from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13.
Konyak leads the Miracle Healing Prayer Ministry in Dimapur. He met with survivors living in the Makhan community hall. Around 170 people, mostly women and children, currently shelter there. Konyak also visited injured victims receiving care at the JNIMS psychiatric ward in Imphal.
The pastor urged the grieving relatives to find peace through faith despite their immense pain. "I brought nothing for you, but I came here representing the Konyak people to pray with you and to show our solidarity and concern during this difficult time," Konyak said. He told the families that forgiveness is the true essence of their shared religion.
Violence gripped the region after three Thadou pastors died in an ambush the same day. Retaliatory abductions followed. While many captives eventually gained their freedom, the six men suffered a grim fate. Their mutilated remains turned up on June 10. Konyak now wants other Nagas to act. He called on churches across Nagaland to back their brothers in need through concrete action rather than simple words.
