Imphal: Naga youth groups are demanding action, not words. The All Naga Students Association Manipur rejected a recent apology from the Kuki-Zo Council regarding the murder of six hostages. They branded the statement a hollow insult.

These hostages were abducted and later found dead on June 10 near Kharam Vaiphei. Their bodies were mutilated. The All Naga Students Association Manipur declared, "The Association categorically asserts that no apology can be deemed credible, sincere and acceptable until the perpetrators responsible for the abduction, torture, mutilation and brutal killing of the six innocent Naga hostages are identified, apprehended and punished in accordance with the rule of law."

The Naga group now wants to know if the council speaks for the killers. They also want to know if the council represents all Kuki-Zo people. Meanwhile, the Naga People's Network Forum condemned the use of the term "Kacha Naga" by the council's chairman. They labeled the name an offensive misnomer.

The Kuki-Zo Council fired back on Friday. Spokesperson Ginza Vualzong claimed the chairman’s words were misinterpreted. He said the regret was born of humanity, not guilt. The council insisted the Kuki-Zo community holds no collective responsibility for the killings.

The National Investigating Agency has taken over the murder case. Tensions remain high as investigators look into the ambush that led to these deaths. No suspects are in custody yet.
