Kohima: Lok Sabha MP S Supongmeren Jamir gathered with the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee in Phek on June 24. He told the room to push government schemes harder to reach more people. Jamir noted that state jobs are drying up. He pushed residents to start farms or look into animal husbandry. The land is ready for it.
The MP raised red flags about the old-age pension program. No new names have been added to the rolls since 2017. Jamir vowed to take the fight to the ministry. "I would take up the matter with the concerned ministry," he told the committee. He also demanded faster payments for victims and an end to bureaucratic stalling.
Telecommunications upgrades are on the horizon for the district. Deputy Commissioner Rhousietho Nyuthe reported a spike in reported sexual offences against children. He credited better awareness for the higher numbers. Advisor Kudecho Khamo thanked the MP for his work and urged departments to keep cleaner data on widows and the disabled. The session finished with the officials planting trees.
