Guwahati: Monsoon rains turned deadly in Northeast India this week. Flash floods and landslides killed at least three people in Arunachal Pradesh. The deluge started June 24 in the Keyi Panyor district. Floodwaters washed away homes, roads, and bridges near the Panyor Hydel Project. Thousands of people remain stranded across 12 districts as rescue crews struggle to reach isolated communities.

Helicopters are moving in. The Indian Air Force, NDRF, and local police are running rescue missions. Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed federal help is coming. He told Chief Minister Pema Khandu that the government will provide "central assistance" to manage the disaster.

The water is moving downstream into Assam. Over 22,000 people across six districts now face rising tides. Nearly 100 villages are underwater. In Dhemaji, a railway bridge over the Simen River collapsed, cutting off train lines and isolating the region. More than 1,600 hectares of farmland are gone.

Trouble is spreading. Sikkim lost a bridge over the Phee Khola, blocking road access in the Dzongu region. Meghalaya is fighting landslides while Nagaland remains on high alert. Forecasters warn that the heavy rain is not letting up.
