Kohima: Mokokchung officials gathered at the DC conference hall on June 22 to rally support for India’s first fully digital census. Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma called the count a foundational database for national planning. He wants full participation in the new self-enumeration phase.
The data collection moves fast. The digital self-enumeration window remains open until June 30, and the process takes less than five minutes. Residents can access the portal at se.census.gov.in. Additional Deputy Commissioner Atsungba Walling confirmed that the house listing phase runs from July 1 to July 31, 2026. This stage includes 33 specific questions before population enumeration starts in February 2027.
District manpower is ready. The rollout involves 13 charge officers, 83 supervisors, and 447 enumerators. Senior Superintendent of Police Vesupra Kezo warned staff about data privacy laws. He reminded the team that under the Census of India Act 1948, "all individual level data remains strictly confidential and legally protected."
Walling urged local leaders to spread the word to ensure every household gets counted. Officials emphasize that accuracy is the top priority for this digital transition.
