Aizawl: Mizoram officials might flood the streets with more taxis. If the new Mizotaxi app cannot keep up with local demand, the government plans to issue extra permits. They will monitor the platform closely to see if the current fleet serves the public well.
The state launched the mobile app in Aizawl on July 1 to fix transit headaches. It tracks cabs, two-wheeler taxis, and auto-rickshaws in real time. The goal is to stop drivers from ripping off passengers with unfair prices.
Passengers can now check official, government-approved rates directly through the app. This digital push aims to stop overcharging for good. Officials stated the initiative is expected to "enhance transparency in fare collection, improve commuter convenience and promote the use of regulated public transport services across the state capital."
