Guwahati: Assam Minister Rameswar Teli visited Duliajan Police Station late on June 28. He demanded a full investigation into the death of 18-year-old Amon Sonar. The teen died on June 19 following a beating at a rehabilitation center in Naoholia. Teli ordered Officer-in-Charge Dibyajyoti Dutta to find the prime suspect fast.

Police have already arrested five people. They remain in judicial custody. The center owner, Santosh Limbu, vanished after the attack. He is still on the run. The minister wants him behind bars.

Teli plans to talk to state officials about cleaning up the industry. He told reporters, "I would urge the state's Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Ashwini Roy Sarkar, to initiate measures for regulating the increasing number of de-addiction centres operating across the state."

The minister also wants tougher laws. He will ask the Chief Minister to block bail for drug traffickers for up to a year. Authorities are still tracking the owner. The case has sparked a debate on how these private facilities operate.
