Guwahati: Water Resources Minister Sushanta Borgohain put officials on notice Wednesday. He chaired a high-level review meeting at the Dibrugarh District Commissioner office to audit ongoing development works. The minister demanded better accountability for physical and financial targets. He told staff to make government schemes more people-centric, stating that officials must ensure benefits "reach eligible beneficiaries efficiently and without leakages."
The review covered a wide range of state business. Officials reported on road repairs, rural connectivity, healthcare upgrades, and drinking water expansion. The Public Works Department updated the group on road maintenance, while health officials detailed progress at local clinics. Everything needs to finish on time.
Cabinet Minister Bimal Borah and Deputy Commissioner Bikram Kairi joined the session. Rajya Sabha MP Terash Gowala and several local MLAs also attended the briefing. The group examined flood mitigation strategies and drainage fixes to protect the region. They also looked at ways to strengthen local markets. The state expects results on the ground immediately.
