Meghalaya Targets Water Reliability in Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0

Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma held a review meeting in Shillong to hash out plans for the next stage of the Jal Jeevan Mission. The state government aims to boost the long-term health of its water networks. It wants every tap to work.

Public Health Engineering Minister Marcuise N Marak said the team examined progress made so far and the groundwork needed for the upcoming phase. They want systems that last. The discussion centered on making sure the infrastructure built under the Har Ghar Jal initiative keeps running without constant breakdowns.

Marak linked the mission to the state's growth. He noted that access to safe water plays a major role in the government's plan for a better future. "Access to safe and dependable drinking water is closely linked to the government’s broader objective of building a healthier and more developed Meghalaya," Marak said.

Officials are now looking at ways to strengthen how they deliver water to homes. The focus remains on keeping existing systems in good shape while preparing for the next rollout. The state government credits the Chief Minister for pushing infrastructure development forward.
