Meghalaya Swimming Championship Draws Over 100 Competitors

Shillong: More than 100 swimmers dove into the 19th Meghalaya State Swimming Championship. The event showcased rising interest in the sport across the state. Organizers at the Meghalaya Swimming Association hosted the competition, which featured multiple age groups and intense races for gold, silver, and bronze medals.

PB War Nongbri, Assistant Director of the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, attended the closing ceremony. He believes the surge in athlete participation proves the sport is on the rise. "Such tournaments play a key role in identifying young talent and providing athletes with opportunities to progress to higher levels of competition," Nongbri said.

The association uses this annual event to spot top performers for future regional and national tournaments. Officials expect the momentum to continue as more youth look to represent Meghalaya on bigger stages.
