Shillong: The Meghalaya Pineapple Festival hits Dilli Haat in New Delhi from July 10 to 12. It aims to connect local growers with big buyers. The state government wants to fix the agricultural value chain. This event is their main tool for branding, logistics, and marketing.
Meghalaya pineapples are famous for being sweet. They hit high marks for flavor and quality. Exports now reach Dubai through groups like Jirang Organic Agro FPO. Officials credit the festival for a massive spike in sales, noting that fresh fruit volume jumped from 7.7 metric tonnes in 2023 to 15.4 metric tonnes in 2025.
The event is part of the state's Vision 2032 strategy. It plugs into the Meghalaya State Organic Mission to help 90,000 farmers across 600 groups. Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region and Communications, will lead the inaugural event. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma will also attend.
Organizers plan to ink deals with Flipkart and the National E-Markets Limited. These agreements aim to open new doors for local produce. The state will also launch a book about the event's history. As one official stated, the festival has become the state's "flagship platform for connecting pineapple growers with consumers, retailers, institutional buyers, food businesses and export markets."
Visitors can buy fresh fruit, sample snacks, and watch cultural shows. Partnerships already include names like Reliance Fresh and Amazon Karigar. The festival showcases the state's heritage along with its harvest.
