Meghalaya MP James Sangma Calls for Strict Action Against Illegal Border Infiltration

Shillong: Meghalaya Rajya Sabha MP James Sangma has called for rigorous measures to combat illegal infiltration, emphasizing that the protection of India’s territorial integrity remains a primary concern. The MP addressed recent anxieties regarding security along the India-Bangladesh border, urging authorities to maintain constant vigilance.

Sangma addressed reports of tensions between the Border Security Force and the Border Guard Bangladesh in the Nandirchar area of the South West Garo Hills district. These tensions reportedly flared after an incident involving an alleged Bangladeshi national. He confirmed that the relevant government agencies are currently monitoring the situation and taking necessary actions to resolve the matter.

Expressing his commitment to national defense, the MP stated, "As a Member of Parliament, I fully supports the measures being undertaken by the Government of India in matters related to national security." He also indicated his readiness to assist in any capacity required to protect the interests of the country.

Sangma concluded by reiterating that the preservation of national boundaries is a collective responsibility. He maintains that border security must be treated as a top priority under all circumstances to ensure the safety and integrity of the nation.
