Shillong: Dozens of makeup artists packed the Riatsamthiah Banquet Hall on Saturday. The one-day event, titled Day of Beauty, Artistry and Inspiration, focused on industry techniques and career growth. Badap Hynniewta, founder of the Accentuate Makeup & Hair Academy, teamed up with Dubai-based celebrity artist Audrey Sangma to host the session. Participants traveled from Shillong, Jowai, and across Meghalaya to attend.
Organizers capped attendance at 60 people to keep the training focused. Hynniewta runs training centers in Shillong and Mairang. He believes specialized training is a necessity for anyone trying to build a career in the field. The curriculum covered bridal makeup, hairstyling, client consultation, and product selection. Partners including PAC Cosmetics and Jacqueline Bridal provided tools for the attendees.
Audrey Sangma led the demonstrations. She brought 16 years of international fashion and bridal experience to the room. Her lesson included a signature soft-glam bridal look that highlights natural features rather than heavy alterations. She emphasized that discipline and punctuality matter as much as talent. The session ended with certificate presentations and support from the Chief Minister’s Office.
Sangma hails from Tura and wants to give back to her home state. She expressed hopes for future ventures in the region. “Shillong is also my father’s hometown, but I want to do something in Tura. Let’s see. Fingers crossed. If I have got the blessing, I will surely start something there,” Sangma said.
