Shillong: The Meghalaya High Court began hearing the state government’s petition to cancel the bail granted to Sonam Raghuvanshi on June 1. Advocate General Amit Kumar presented the government’s arguments before the single bench of Justice Wanlura Diengdoh to conclude the state's submission.

The state government is challenging a decision made by the East Khasi Hills Sessions Court on April 27, 2026, which allowed Raghuvanshi to be released under specific conditions. Officials are now asking the High Court to set aside this order, arguing that the lower court’s ruling requires legal reconsideration.

The proceedings are scheduled to continue on June 3. On that date, legal counsel representing Raghuvanshi will provide arguments in defense of the original bail order.
