Shillong: Meghalaya BJP leaders see a path toward ending the state's border friction. Party general secretary Wankitbok Pohshna claims the second phase of talks offers a real chance to settle six contested sectors.
The state government reassembled three regional committees to handle the heavy lifting. They have 45 days to file final reports. "The BJP is hopeful that the second phase of the boundary talks will move forward positively through dialogue and mutual trust, with the interests of the people remaining paramount," Pohshna said.
Disputes hang over Langpih in West Khasi Hills, plus sites in Ri-Bhoi and West Jaintia Hills. These spots include Borduar, Nongwah-Mawtamur, Deshdoomreah, Block-I, and Psiar-Khanduli. Deputy CMs Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar lead the charge alongside Power Minister Mehtab Lyngdoh.
These teams must coordinate with Assam officials to verify village claims. They will trek to the border zones for field inspections. Geography and demographics drive the work. Each panel features ministers and local council representatives to ensure every angle gets a look.
