Itanagar: Mebo MLA Oken Tayeng handed out seven grass cutters to community groups on Monday. The gear went to youth organizations in Ayeng and Kiyit villages. Officials held the event in Ayeng to push for better environmental conservation. The machines aim to keep public spaces tidy across the Mebo Sub-Division.
Local leaders and elders watched the distribution. Seven individuals from the Mebo area funded the purchase of the equipment. These donors include Liyon Borang, Gobo Yirang, Bomni Tayeng, Bomyem Tayeng, Milorai Modi, Dilem Modi, and Advocate Magyar Lego. The beneficiaries represent multiple local groups, such as Regam Sirum and Siyon Sirum.
Tayeng spoke to the crowd about local responsibility. He believes small acts change everything. "The commitment shown by our youth and community organizations gives hope for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable tomorrow. A clean environment begins with a committed community," he said.
The MLA credited the Eco-Clean Mebo Mission for driving these efforts. He thanked officials like ADC Nancy Yirang and Circle Officer Toimi Tagi for their work. The mission hopes to keep villagers involved in the upkeep of their surroundings long term. The event ended with a call for more volunteers to help clean the Mebo constituency.
