Guwahati: A massive boulder slammed into a house in the Odalbakra area of Guwahati on Wednesday evening, July 15. The rock rolled down from higher ground during a landslide and punched through the structure at house number 13A on Bishnu Rabha Path. Ratan Das owns the property. The family inside escaped without a scratch. Panic gripped the neighborhood.

Local officials and the circle officer arrived to survey the wreckage. They face a major problem. Narrow roads block help. Fire and Emergency Services trucks cannot squeeze through the constricted approach route. This blockage stalled immediate cleanup efforts and trapped the debris. Authorities are now checking the hillside to see if the slope will hold. Officials plan to start mitigation work to prevent future rockfalls. Residents are worried. Many fear that hillside settlements are too vulnerable to heavy weather. Locals demand better paths to reach these zones during emergencies, as one source noted, "the incident has raised concerns among local residents over the vulnerability of hillside settlements during periods of unstable weather."
