Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh met at the State Secretariat on June 22 to track the progress of the Manipur Infotech Enabled Development project. The World Bank is picking up the tab for this digital push. It aims to modernize the state, build a dedicated IT hub, and drag the local economy into the future.

The plan centers on an Information Technology Special Economic Zone located at Mantripukhri. Officials want this site to become a magnet for tech investment. They believe it will create a steady pipeline of jobs for the state's younger workforce. It is a big bet on high-tech growth.

Khemchand Singh assessed how the project is actually hitting the ground. He signaled that building a stronger digital foundation is the government's primary goal. The Chief Minister stated that the initiative would play a role in "attracting investments, generating employment opportunities for the youth, and positioning Manipur as an emerging hub for information technology and digital services in the region."

This effort ties into the state's broader vision of a Viksit Manipur. Leaders want to use tech to jumpstart inclusive growth. They are pushing hard to make these digital upgrades happen now.
