Imphal: Manipur officials released the state's draft electoral roll on Sunday. The list now counts 1,934,399 voters. This follows a month of intensive work to clean up the rolls. Between May 30 and June 28, nearly 93 percent of eligible residents filed their forms.
CEO Arun Kumar Sinha confirmed the numbers during a press briefing. The current electorate includes 940,466 men, 993,660 women, and 294 third-gender voters. The cleanup phase flagged 43,000 deceased voters and removed over 100,000 duplicate or shifted records. Authorities will keep duplicate registrations at only one site.
The massive operation spanned 16 districts. It relied on thousands of staff and booth agents. Ten political parties took part in the update. The CEO's office noted that the jump in Booth Level Agents reflected "greater political participation and transparency" during the exercise.
Officials also expanded access. They grew the network of polling stations to 3,041. The commission declared that "no polling station has more than 1,200 electors." Special provisions were also made to ensure Internally Displaced Persons could verify their status.
The public can challenge or update the roll until August 4. Staff will settle these claims by September 2. The final list arrives September 6. Any resident turning 18 by July 1, 2026, can still apply.
