Imphal: Manipur Police launched a series of anti-narcotics operations this week, resulting in multiple arrests and the seizure of heroin, cocaine, and illegal liquor across three districts. Officers conducted these raids as part of an ongoing enforcement campaign to combat substance trafficking and the illicit transport of alcohol.
In Bishnupur district on June 13, authorities intercepted a Tata Gold Sumo at Tronglaobi Makha Leikai. Police recovered 26 soap cases filled with suspected heroin from the vehicle. Two occupants, 22-year-old Bicky Munda and a juvenile, were taken into custody following the discovery.
Separately, police in Imphal West district arrested two men on June 12 for cocaine possession. Sukham Rozar, 25, was apprehended near Nitayainanda Mandir on RIMS Road with 4.6 grams of the drug. Shortly after, officers arrested 29-year-old Mutum Giriraj in his home neighborhood of Sagolband Meino Leirak with 18.6 grams of cocaine.
In Imphal East, police intercepted a Mahindra Bolero at Khabam Lamkhai containing 215 litres of DIC liquor. The three occupants, identified as Moirangthem Abinash Singh, Wahengbam Ichanmacha, and Thangjam Sumati Devi, were detained. Officials stated that "the vehicle, seized liquor and the detained individuals were subsequently handed over to the Excise Department for further action."
