Manipur Police Chief Rewards Officers for Massive Weapons Recovery

Imphal: Manipur Director General of Police Mukesh Singh has awarded a cash incentive of 1 lakh rupees to police personnel following a successful operation that recovered a significant cache of looted weapons and ammunition. Singh announced the reward during a visit to the Imphal East District Police Headquarters, marking his second trip to the site in just four days.

Official reports confirm that nearly 70 percent of the firearms taken from state armouries since the start of ethnic violence have been secured. Approximately 6,000 weapons were stolen during the unrest, and authorities are continuing efforts to locate the remaining missing arms. During his review of the district, the police chief assessed crime trends and operational strategies while urging officers to prioritize professional investigations.

Singh underscored the necessity of vigilance against insurgent groups and directed the force to intensify actions against anti-social elements. He specifically called for a people-centric approach to maintain public safety and restore community trust. Addressing the importance of internal standards, he stated, "The DGP encouraged officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism while carrying out their duties."

The police chief expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the Imphal East team. He requested that senior staff maintain effective supervision to expedite sensitive cases and ensure the state remains stable as they move forward.
