Imphal: Manipur is rewriting its security playbook. State Home Minister Konthoujam Govindas confirmed the move following an ambush that killed two soldiers from the 40th Battalion of the Assam Rifles. Officials are hunting the shooters now.

The minister spoke on Wednesday at the Bishnupur District Olympic Games. He condemned the violence. "The recent attack on the security forces is extremely unfortunate. These personnel were deployed to protect us and ensure our safety, but they were ambushed and killed. It is a very tragic incident."

No group has claimed the attack. The NSCN denies any involvement. Govindas met with the Director General of the CRPF to hash out a new plan to combat insurgents. The state has already started deploying CoBRA commandos to key areas.

Logistics remain a hurdle. Troops need housing and supplies before full operations start. Govindas expects these setups to take three months. He aims to bring peace back to the region through tighter security and community events like the Olympics.
