Imphal: Manipur authorities ordered an early rollout of food rations today. The state wants three months of supplies delivered by the end of August. Over 20 lakh people rely on this aid. This push covers the August, September, and October 2026 quotas under the National Food Security Act.

The Food Corporation of India and local officials must finish the handoffs by August 31. This directive comes straight from the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in New Delhi. Officials claim the early move clears space in FCI storage ahead of new crop procurement and heads off seasonal logistics headaches.

More than 5.8 lakh ration card holders across the state will get the subsidised grain. This system supports two main groups. It serves Priority Households and the Antyodaya Anna Yojana, which the government describes as the "poorest of the poor" among the population.

The Directorate of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution wants families to hit their local Fair Price Shops soon. They need to grab their three-month supply before the final August deadline. Anyone hitting a snag can contact local district authorities or the state directorate to file a complaint.
