Imphal: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh opened a new bioreactor unit at the CSIR-NEIST complex in Imphal on Thursday. This tech aims to ramp up bio-fertilizer output across the state. The move pushes natural farming while giving local businesses access to new tools.

The state government is teaming up with Green Biotech Ecosolution Private Limited to cover 225 sangams of paddy fields. Farmers in Imphal East, Imphal West, and Thoubal will swap some chemicals for organic alternatives. The fields will use a mix of 75 percent chemical fertilizer and 25 percent bio-fertilizer. Addressing the crowd, the Chief Minister said the plan is to "champion natural farming while empowering local MSMEs through advanced technology transfer."

Officials also pushed to keep the supply chain moving during the monsoon. The state handed out over 93,000 bags of neem-coated urea at a discounted price of 270 rupees each. These supplies reached 54 spots across 16 districts. Special camps served fringe areas hit by recent unrest to ensure growers still got their seeds and urea. This push aims to drop chemical reliance and strengthen the local economy.
