Imphal: Manipur officials brought journalists and media pros to Imphal on June 24. They held a workshop on using artificial intelligence in newsrooms and fact-checking. The Directorate of Information and Public Relations hosted the event to help the media stay current.
Technology moves fast. Media workers need to keep up. Information and Public Relations Secretary Hungyo Worshang told the crowd that the sector must learn to use new tools effectively. He warned that people cannot abandon their own judgment. Worshang said, "The rapid advancement of technology is unavoidable and media professionals must adapt to effectively harness AI-driven tools."
IPR Director Dr. Th. Charanjeet Singh argued that AI helps with basic chores. It speeds up report writing and sorts through data. Experts from Cube Ten Technologies and Manipur Technical University joined the session to break down tech myths. They looked at how to fight digital lies and fake content. Dr. Angom Buboo Singh of NIELIT showed how these tools clean up newsroom workflows.
The day ended with a clear message. AI changes how news gets made. Still, machines cannot replace the human brain. Reporters must maintain high standards to keep public trust.
