Imphal: Manipur legislator Awangbow Newmai has condemned the recent shooting of three villagers in Konsaram, allegedly carried out by Kuki militants. The victims, identified as 23-year-old Kachiaklungbou Chawang, 19-year-old Manonlungbou Abonmai, and 54-year-old Pounganlakbou Malangmei, were working on a water pipeline when the attack occurred.

Kachiaklungbou Chawang suffered a bullet wound during the assault. Personnel from the Gorkha Regiment arrived at the scene to evacuate the injured man and transport him to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Newmai described the violence against civilians as unacceptable, stating that such actions only serve to increase fear and division within the community. He has requested a thorough, impartial investigation to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The MLA called on all parties to abandon violence in favor of peaceful dialogue. He emphasized that the safety and dignity of residents must remain a priority as regional tensions rise. Local authorities are now facing mounting pressure to ensure security and prevent the situation from escalating further.
