Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh handed out cash to 26 displaced people on Monday. Each person received Rs 1 lakh to cover medical costs for chronic conditions like cancer and kidney disease. The distribution took place at the Manipur Trade Expo Centre relief camp in Imphal West.

The government designed this aid package to soften the blow for families trapped in exile. Many residents remain stuck at the camp because they cannot safely return to their homes. During the event, the Chief Minister addressed the ongoing displacement. "It is unfortunate that people are unable to live in their own homes," he said.

Officials promised more help is coming. The government intends to keep supporting those with long-term sickness. Rajya Sabha MP Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi also spoke at the event. She pledged to bring in weaving machines and other work tools to help women at the site build a stable life.
