Manipur Government Appoints Mukesh Singh as New Police Chief

Imphal: The Government of Manipur has named Mukesh Singh as the new Director General of Police and Head of the Police Force. Singh, a 1996 batch IPS officer from the AGMUT cadre, will transition to the Manipur cadre and officially assume his new role on June 1, 2026.

Alongside this appointment, the state government launched a broader administrative reshuffle affecting several senior IPS officers. These changes are designed to improve policing and governance across the state.

Ashutosh Kumar Sinha moves to the position of Chairman and Managing Director of MANIDCO, while also taking on the role of Director of Inquiry for the Manipur Lokayukta. Lupheng Kailun has been reassigned as the Managing Director of MPHC Ltd. Additionally, Lhari Dorjee Lhatoo will serve as the Additional Director General of Police, overseeing Armed Police, Modernization, Intelligence, and Law and Order.
