Imphal: Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen urged state leaders to prioritize local institutions at the Rashtriya Gramin Vikas Sammelan 2026. She pushed for greater innovation and community participation to improve roads, schools, and digital access. The event took place in a two-day forum hosted by the Ministry of Rural Development.
Kipgen placed the focus on grassroots work. She called rural areas the heart of the country. "Describing Rural India as the soul of India, Nemcha Kipgen highlighted the pivotal role of Gram Sabhas, Gram Panchayats, farmers, rural households, women and youth in shaping an inclusive and self-reliant India," the official report stated.
The minister linked success to flagship programs like the Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission. She argued these projects help turn small councils into hubs for accountability. An empowered countryside provides the base for the national Viksit Bharat 2047 goal.
Kipgen thanked Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for backing Manipur. The state relies on federal help for infrastructure and housing projects, including specific support for displaced persons. She emphasized that reaching every household with opportunity remains the primary mission.
