LJP (Ram Vilas) Pushes for Northeast Development Under Act East Policy

Kohima: The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) met in New Delhi on Monday to map out development goals for the Northeast. The session focused heavily on the Centre’s Act East Policy. Party leaders want better roads, increased cross-border trade, and more industrial growth for the region.

National Secretary S Richard Humtsoe attended the meeting alongside Nagaland MLA and Legislature Party Leader Dr Sukhato A Sema, Chief Whip Naiba Konyak, and state president Viloto Pukhato. Humtsoe traced the roots of the current strategy back to former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao. Prime Minister Narendra Modi later pushed the agenda further with a sharper focus on commerce and security. "For the North East, and particularly for Nagaland, the Act East Policy presents a historic opportunity to transform our geographical proximity into an economic and strategic advantage," Humtsoe said.

The delegation wants to turn Nagaland into a bridge for Southeast Asian trade. They also plan to promote tourism, agriculture, and food processing. Party members reaffirmed their support for national president and Union Cabinet Minister Chirag Paswan. They believe his leadership will secure the region’s rightful place in national affairs.

Pukhato praised Paswan for his dynamic leadership. He asked the Union Minister to release the first installment of funding for food processing plants in Nagaland. The party expects these investments to create jobs and foster self-reliance among unemployed youth. The Nagaland unit vowed its total commitment to building the party across the Northeast.
