Kohima: The Linguistic Minority Forum Nagaland (LMFN) held its Annual General Meeting on June 7 at Hotel Europa Inn in Dimapur to address the welfare and rights of non-Naga and linguistic minority communities. The group focused on strategic development for these populations across the state.
A primary outcome of the meeting was the decision to host the 2nd Annual Youth Conclave cum Cultural Fest in July 2026 at the Dimapur Town Hall. Organizers intend for the event to foster social harmony, cultural understanding, and open dialogue. To support this initiative, the forum will establish a dedicated Youth Wing and a five-member Advisory Core Committee comprised of educators and intellectuals to provide strategic direction.
LMFN chairman Bishnu Bhattacharjee addressed the attendees, emphasizing the role these communities have played in the growth of Nagaland. He stated, "The Forum’s commitment to empowerment and welfare" remains a top priority. Secretary Kabir Ahmed Choudhury also presented the annual report, detailing recent activities and achievements of the organization.
To expand its impact, the forum plans to open a district branch in Kohima. Leadership also confirmed that a delegation will reach out to civil society groups and other stakeholders to build stronger relationships between the Naga and non-Naga populations. Members pledged to continue working toward the education, security, and well-being of the younger generation while promoting peace and mutual respect across the state.
