Kohima: The Linguistic Minority Forum Nagaland held its annual general meeting on June 7 at Hotel Europa Inn in Dimapur. Executive members, community leaders, and citizens gathered to discuss the rights and development of non-Naga and linguistic minority communities residing within the state.
During the assembly, the group finalized plans to host the 2nd Annual Youth Conclave-cum-Cultural Fest in July 2026. This event aims to foster social harmony and youth empowerment. To support these goals, the Forum resolved to create a dedicated youth wing and a five-member advisory committee of educationists to provide strategic guidance.
LMFN Chairman Bishnu Bhattacharjee spoke on the significant role these communities play in the state's progress. He stated, "The Forum's commitment to the welfare, empowerment and advancement of minority communities while contributing positively to the state's overall progress" remains a primary focus. Secretary Kabir Ahmed Choudhury also presented a report detailing the organization's outreach efforts and activities from the past year.
In a move to increase its visibility, the organization plans to establish a branch in Kohima. Additionally, a new delegation will engage with civil society groups to encourage peaceful coexistence between Naga and non-Naga populations. The members pledged to continue their advocacy for the rights and education of minority families who have lived in the state for decades.
