Kuki-Zo Groups Demand Inquiry Into Manipur Killings and Village Attacks

Imphal: Hundreds of Kuki-Zo community members marched through Kangpokpi on July 3. They demanded a full probe into the killings of 14 civilians and three church leaders. The Kuki Christian Leaders Forum organized the event. Protesters carried signs demanding accountability for the violence.

A delegation delivered a memorandum to the office of Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen. The document calls for protection of ancestral land and immediate compensation for displaced families. It claims 13 villages were attacked and burnt during the unrest.

The memorandum stated: "The Kuki-Zo church leaders, civil society organisations and the wider Kuki-Zo community write to you with heavy hearts, deeply aggrieved by the continuing violence, loss of innocent lives, and the disturbing silence and imbalance surrounding the tragedies that have befallen our people."

The group argues that mainstream media and state authorities ignore their losses. They claim public focus remains locked on other groups while the Kuki-Zo suffer in silence. The forum blamed the NSCN (IM) and ZUF (K) for specific attacks. They want the State Cabinet and Union Government to act now. They seek a high-level inquiry to bring perpetrators to justice.
