Imphal: The Committee on Tribal Unity pulled the plug on its indefinite highway blockade Monday. The move followed a sit-down with Kangpokpi district police and top administrators. They needed ironclad safety guarantees. Authorities promised to keep essential supplies moving and beef up protection for Kuki-Zo residents.

The group started the blockade on June 21 to highlight safety concerns along key national routes. The shutdown paralyzed traffic on the Imphal-Dimapur and Imphal-Silchar highways. Now, the roads are clear. In an official order, CoTU confirmed the blockade was lifted immediately to serve public safety and peace.

CoTU is keeping the heat on officials for specific areas including Leimakhong, the Tuilang IT Road, Kangchup, and Bungpi. The group laid out clear stakes for the future. "Any future security lapse, attack, arson, loss of life, or property damage in Kuki-Zo areas will be the responsibility of the Kangpokpi SP and central security forces."

The organization is still demanding justice. They want the people behind the May 13 killing of three church leaders arrested and prosecuted. The group waits for results.
