Imphal: Kuki Zo Council Chairman Henlienthang Thanglet publicly apologized for the killing of six Naga civilians. The admission marks the first time a Kuki group has taken responsibility for the deaths. Thanglet spoke in a video address released after the bodies were recovered earlier this month.

The six victims disappeared from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13. Searchers found their remains on June 10 near a Kuki-Zo village. Thanglet blamed the act on high tensions and raw emotion. "I agree that the Kuki-Zo people made a great mistake in the killing of six Kacha Naga civilians. I really regret it," he said.

The Kuki-Zo Council claims the violence followed a drunken brawl in Ukhrul that eventually led to the deaths of 14 Kuki-Zo individuals. They also allege that Naga-dominated areas are blocking essential supplies. The council now demands an independent investigation into all related killings and arson incidents.

Spokesperson Ginza Vualzong pushed for action against militants. He asked authorities to reopen supply routes for food and medicine. The group insists on equal justice for all victims of the ongoing regional conflict.
